Matcha Latte

Matcha Latte

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon high-quality matcha powder

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any plant-based milk of your choice)

  • 1/2 cup hot water (not boiling, about 175°F or 80°C)

  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (optional for sweetness)

  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

  • A pinch of sea salt (optional, to enhance flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Sift the Matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to avoid clumps. This helps the powder dissolve better and gives you a smooth, creamy latte.

  2. Whisk the Matcha: Add 2-3 tablespoons of hot water (175°F/80°C) to the sifted matcha. Use a bamboo whisk (or a small metal whisk) and whisk in a circular motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and frothy.

  3. Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, heat the almond milk (or milk of choice) over medium heat until warm, but not boiling. You can also heat it in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds.

  4. Combine: Once the milk is warm, pour it into your matcha mixture. You can either stir it gently or whisk it to combine. If you want a frothy finish, you can use a milk frother at this point.

  5. Sweeten: Taste your latte and add maple syrup, honey, or a sweetener of your choice, if desired. Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt for an extra flavor boost!

  6. Serve: Pour your matcha latte into a cup and enjoy! Optionally, top with a sprinkle of matcha powder or cinnamon for a finishing touch.

Tips:

- If you prefer iced, just cool the matcha mixture and pour it over ice.

- For an extra creamy texture, you can try coconut milk or oat milk.
