Feed Your Gut: Kimchi

Have you ever tried kimchi? Don't be afraid of its strong flavors - we're here to help you figure out how to enjoy it because it is SO good for your gut.

What is Kimchi?

Kimchi is a traditional Korean dish made by fermenting vegetables, most commonly napa cabbage and Korean radishes, with a variety of seasonings.

The seasonings typically used in kimchi include garlic, ginger, scallions, chili peppers, and salted seafood or fish sauce, though vegetarian versions are also available.

These ingredients contribute to kimchi's distinctive flavor profile, which is tangy, spicy, and slightly sour.

How to use Kimchi

One simple way to enjoy kimchi is to use it as a topping or condiment. Add a spoonful of kimchi to your salads, sandwiches, or grain bowls for a tangy kick and a boost of probiotics.

You can also mix chopped kimchi into dips, spreads, or sauces to add depth of flavor and a hint of spice.

Try incorporating kimchi into stir-fries, soups, stews, or fried rice! Try adding kimchi to the end of cooking as too much heat can destroy many of the probiotics.
